Arrested for Preaching Jesus in the UK – A Sign of the Times?

Arrested For Preaching Jesus – UK
Arrested For Preaching Jesus – UK

The title on my thumbnail today is arrested for preaching Jesus in the UK! A recent video captured a Christian street preacher in London being confronted by police simply for sharing the gospel. This incident highlights a growing concern across the UK: while Muslim calls to prayer are increasingly welcomed in public spaces, Christian preaching is being met with resistance and even arrest.

This contrast has caused many to question whether Christian speech is still welcome in public life, especially in a country historically built on biblical values. In this blog post, we explore this issue and the scriptures that call believers to stand firm and preach the gospel boldly.

Increasing Hostility Towards the Gospel

The video begins with a tweet that points out the disparity: “Muslim clerics are allowed to blast out Muslim calls to prayer but Christian preachers are arrested.” The footage shows a preacher, without any amplification, peacefully proclaiming the gospel and being confronted by police.

This is not an isolated event. Reports of similar incidents are becoming more common. What once was normal public evangelism is now seen by some as offensive or disruptive.

What the Bible Says About These Times

This increasing pressure on Christians is not unexpected. Scripture warns us that such times would come.

Matthew 24:12–14

“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

This passage reminds believers that while lawlessness increases and love grows cold, the gospel must still be preached. It’s a call to faithfulness despite growing resistance.

The Great Commission

Matthew 28:18–20

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Every Christian is called to make disciples and share the gospel. The mission hasn’t changed.

Boldness in the Early Church

Acts 28:30–31

“Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.”

Paul preached with boldness, unhindered. In contrast, modern believers in the UK are facing increasing barriers to doing the same.

Preaching with Power and Purpose

Isaiah 61:1

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”

This verse shows that preaching the gospel is not just a task — it’s a calling and a privilege. Every Christian has a part to play in sharing the good news.

Hope in a Confused World

The UK feels increasingly upside down. But even in these confusing times, there is hope — and that hope is found in Jesus Christ.

The Easter season reminds us that Jesus died for our sins and rose again, offering eternal life to all who believe. No matter how dark the world may seem, we can live in the freedom He provides.

A Prayer of Salvation

If you would like to receive the gift of eternal life, you can do so by praying the following prayer:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge You as Lord and Saviour of my life. I repent of all my sins, and I ask You today to take over complete control of every aspect of my life. Amen.”

If you prayed this sincerely, the Bible says you are born again — a new creation in Christ.

Final Thoughts

Despite the challenges facing Christians today, there is a growing opportunity to stand for truth, share the gospel, and live out biblical values with boldness and love.

Let us be faithful to the calling we have received and continue to proclaim Jesus — no matter the cost.

Thank you for reading, and may God bless you richly.
