Jumping to Death In Syria – A Christian Perspective

Jumping To Death Syria
Jumping To Death Syria

The title of my thumbnail today reads “Jumping to Death in Syria” and sadly, it’s just pretty horrific.

I saw a tweet about it and have since seen it across many social media platforms. In fact, when I was in church yesterday, several people mentioned it to me. This post from David Vance is all over social media — and rightly so. Armed Syrians are reportedly forcing unarmed Druze men to jump off tall buildings to their deaths. It’s unimaginable what that must be like. The video, which I chose not to enlarge, shows just how brutal it is. It appears to be a family — possibly including a young lad — being forced to jump from a balcony. And it’s even being filmed by onlookers.

It’s beyond belief. Such a terrible thing — people being forced to jump to their deaths. And yet, tragically, the world seems to turn a blind eye.

Media Silence and Political Confusion

I did a quick Google search using the phrase “Druze men jumping off tall buildings in Syria” and found some YouTube videos. Interestingly, there was nothing from the BBC. The Daily Mail covered it, but mainstream media largely avoids reporting these atrocities.

The Daily Mail article focuses on the plight of the Druze. It includes horrific video footage showing militants forcing Druze individuals to their deaths. It questions why Israel is bombing Syria, but the real perpetrators seem to be Sunni tribal fighters and Syrian government militias — not Israel. Amir Tsarfati, an Israeli Christian Jew, commented on how misleading the headlines are. One example makes it appear as if Israel is targeting the Druze, which is completely false. As Amir pointed out, the media can never be fully trusted, and thankfully community notes sometimes correct the misinformation.

One tragic report details how armed pro-regime jihadists killed a pastor from the Good Shepherd Evangelical Church, along with his entire family — siblings, children, father, and mother — a total of 20 people. The picture in circulation was taken just days before the massacre. It’s heartbreaking.

Yet again, the world is silent. So much unnecessary loss. Trump’s envoy mentioned that the decision to lift sanctions on Syria isn’t irreversible — and I agree. I like Donald Trump and believe he’s done a good job with his business experience. But I strongly disagreed with his decision to ease sanctions on Syria, which is currently run by terrorists. No deals should be made with jihadist regimes.

This is a sobering reminder of what’s going on in the world. We cannot put our hope in politicians — they often get it wrong. Our hope must be in Jesus Christ.

Biblical Truths: Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ

Here are five powerful Bible verses from the New King James Version (NKJV) that affirm that salvation is only through faith in Jesus Christ:

  • John 14:6 – “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'”
  • Acts 4:12 – “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
  • Romans 10:9 – “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
  • Galatians 2:16 – “A man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ… for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.”
  • 1 Timothy 2:5 – “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.”

If you’re reading this and you’re not yet a Christian, I encourage you to consider the wonderful gift of eternal life that Jesus offers. He died a painful death on the cross to make a way for us to be saved. All we need to do is repent — turn away from our sins — and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. If we do this with a genuine heart, we receive a born-again spirit and the promise of eternal life.

A Prayer to Receive Christ

If you would like to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you can say this simple prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge You as Lord and Savior of my life. I repent of all my sins and I ask You today to take over complete control of every aspect of my life. Amen.

If you said that prayer and meant it with all your heart, and you’re turning away from your old life, you have the opportunity to be born again — to begin a new life in Christ. It truly is life-changing.
