Today, the title on my thumbnail is “Alarming Rape Crime Reports.” I first saw the graphic via Amir Tsarfati’s Telegram channel and then tracked it back to a tweet shared by “Radio Europe.” The image compares “rape reports” in England & Wales, Germany, France and Poland between 2000 and 2023 and asks: “What happened in those 23 years?”
The Viral Graphic: What It Claims
The card shows (among other numbers) England & Wales at 8,593 in 2000 and about 68,000 in 2023. That’s a dramatic change. I did the quick mental math on camera: if you think in rough terms of 8 × 8 = 64, then the 2023 figure is around eight to eight-and-a-half times higher than the 2000 figure.
According to the graphic, Germany has also risen, but not to the same extent; and Poland appears to have decreased. Naturally, that raises the “why?” questions.
Digging Into Explanations People Cite
I mentioned in the video that Wikipedia isn’t a source I rely on (it often depends which “side of the coin” is editing). That said, when I read around the topic, I repeatedly saw these possible contributing factors being cited in various places:
- Broader legal definitions and consent-based reforms in the 2010s that changed how offences are defined and recorded.
- Heightened awareness and improved reporting—more victims willing to come forward.
- Recording practice changes by police/statistical bodies that increase what is counted and how it’s counted.
- Immigration correlations discussed in some studies, with non-nationals sometimes over-represented in conviction data in specific places/times.
- For Poland, a combination of slower immigration, a more stable population, and the possibility of under-reporting due to cultural factors were suggested by some commentators.
To be clear, I’m not claiming a single cause. I’m sharing what is commonly cited when people try to explain the differences between countries and the big 23-year shift.

London Snapshot and a Note on Policing vs “Net Zero”
I also touched on London. The Mayor, Sadiq Khan, has posted that certain offences—robbery, theft, residential burglary, knife crime—are down, with high-visibility policing at the heart of the plan. But there’s a catch: on some of those posts you can’t reply. When comments are closed, I become more skeptical.
It’s also been argued that the Mayor’s budget placed more funding on “net zero” initiatives than on policing. My view is that public money should prioritize real public safety. London needs genuine reform; actions speak louder than words.
Why This Matters to Me as a Christian
As this is a Christian channel, I turned to Scripture about the end days and the moral climate we’re seeing. The Bible speaks directly to lawlessness, deception, hearts growing cold, and the pattern being “as in the days of Noah.”
Key Scriptures (NKJV)
- Matthew 24:12 — “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.”
- 2 Timothy 3:1–5 — “In the last days perilous times will come… people will be lovers of themselves… without self-control… lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.”
- Romans 1:28–32 — “God gave them over to a debased mind… being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality… violent, proud…”
- Isaiah 5:20 — “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness…”
- Matthew 24:37–39 — “As the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be…”
- Genesis 6:11 — “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.”
- 1 Timothy 4:1–2 — “In latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits…”
- 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 7–12 — “That Day will not come unless the falling away comes first… For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work…”
- 2 Peter 3:3–4 — “Scoffers will come in the last days… saying, ‘Where is the promise of His coming?’”
- Jude 18–19 — “In the last time there will be mockers… sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.”
- Daniel 12:10 — “Many shall be purified… but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand…”
- Revelation 9:20–21 — “They did not repent of the works of their hands… nor of their murders… or their sexual immorality or their thefts.”
- 2 Peter 2:2, 10 — “Many will follow their destructive ways… and despise authority.”
Hope in Christ
Although it’s sad to see these things, I’m thankful for the truth of the Bible that sets us free. If you’re reading this and you’re not a Christian, here’s what I believe: Jesus died for us and rose again. For those who believe in Him, we can have new life, the born-again Spirit, and the free gift of eternal life. We may die on this earth, but the spirit lives on forever—this is a wonderful promise of Scripture.
A Simple Prayer
“Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge You as Lord and Savior of my life. I repent of all my sins, and I ask You today to take complete control of every aspect of my life. Amen.”
