In this blog post and video, my title is, while the missiles fall – the people of Iran dance! This morning, like many people, I woke up to breaking headlines about escalation in Iran. Reports indicate that the United States and Israel have carried out strikes on Iranian targets, and Iran has responded with retaliation across the region. It is a serious situation, and we should never treat war lightly.
No one with a clear conscience enjoys conflict. War brings grief, displacement, fear, and the loss of life. But alongside the headlines, I also noticed something that the mainstream conversation often misses: the human side. Ordinary people. Ordinary longing. And, in some cases, visible signs of hope.
As I searched online, I came across videos circulating on social media that appear to show some Iranians dancing, celebrating, and expressing a kind of relief. Whether every clip is verified or not, the reaction itself tells a story: many people inside Iran have lived for decades under severe restrictions, and the desire for freedom runs deep.
Holding Two Thoughts at Once
There is a tension here, and it is important to say this clearly: you can oppose war while still recognising that people who have been oppressed may hope for change. You can grieve the suffering that conflict brings while still praying that a nation might be set free from tyranny.
From a biblical point of view, I believe we should refuse to celebrate destruction, but we can certainly pray for deliverance, truth, repentance, and peace.
Could Iran Be at a Turning Point?
There has been talk for some time about regime change in Iran. Many will remember the protests, the crackdowns, and the heartbreaking reports of people losing their lives simply for wanting freedom. When people reach the point where they have nothing left to lose, they begin to ask bigger questions.
And that is often where spiritual hunger increases. When society shakes, people search. They look for meaning. They look for truth. They look for hope beyond politics.
This theme is not limited to Iran. We have seen it here in the UK as well, where cultural turbulence often runs alongside renewed interest in the Bible and the things of God. I wrote about that recently here:
What About Christianity in Iran?
I also touched on something in the video that I believe is significant: reports of Christianity growing in Iran. Because of the risks involved, many believers keep their faith private and meet in small groups. That makes exact numbers difficult to confirm, but what matters most is that many people appear to be seeking Jesus in the midst of pressure.
Whatever happens politically, my prayer is that many Iranians will come to know the Lord in truth, not as a cultural label, but as genuine faith that brings eternal life and real freedom.
Two Scriptures for a Shaking Nation
In the video, I read two passages that fit the moment well.
God’s Plans: A Future and a Hope
Jeremiah 29:11–13 says:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
There is hope in that for anyone living under fear, oppression, or uncertainty. God is not indifferent. He calls people to seek Him, and He promises that those who seek Him with their whole heart will find Him.
True Liberty
2 Corinthians 3:17 says:
“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
That is a different kind of freedom than politics can ever produce. Political freedom matters, but spiritual freedom is deeper. It breaks chains that no government can break. It brings peace that no regime can manufacture.
Prophecy, Headlines, and Wisdom
I also want to be careful here. Many Christians immediately jump to prophecy when major events happen in the Middle East. There is a place for biblical prophecy, and I have covered this topic before, but we should handle it with humility, accuracy, and wisdom.
Whatever your view of prophecy, one thing is certain: people need the gospel. In every nation. In every generation. In every crisis.
A Word for the UK: Freedom Is Not Guaranteed
It is easy for us in Britain to watch events abroad and forget how quickly freedoms can be lost. That is one reason I often speak about spiritual foundations and revival at home. Political solutions have limits. The deeper issue is the heart.
If You Are Not a Christian
If you watched the video and you are not a Christian, I shared a simple prayer at the end. Saying words is not magic, but calling on the Lord in sincerity is real. Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again. He offers forgiveness, eternal life, and a new beginning.
If you meant that prayer, do leave a comment on the video. It is always encouraging to hear when someone has turned to Christ.
Final Thoughts
We should pray for peace in the Middle East. We should pray for protection for innocent people. We should pray that evil is restrained. And we should pray that the people of Iran, who have endured so much, will find true liberty in Christ.
If you have thoughts on this situation, feel free to leave a respectful comment. Thank you for reading, and thank you for watching the video.
