What prompted this message

Today’s devotional is titled, “Are You Full of Faith?” This thought was stirred by a good friend of mine who runs Fountain Life Ministry. He’s mainly an evangelist in Africa, but also ministers around the world. We’ve been friends for many years and often message or speak. The other day I said, “I’m hoping this, I’m hoping that,” and he lovingly pulled me up: you don’t just hope—you believe God. It was a great reminder.

Why good friends matter

I’m thankful for friends who can challenge us. We all fall into habits, but strong friends help realign us with God’s Word. Sometimes it even feels easier to have faith for others than for ourselves, doesn’t it?

The faith of Abraham (Romans 4:17–20)

One of my favourite passages is Romans 4. Abraham’s faith is a brilliant example when things look impossible.

“As it is written, ‘I have made you a father of many nations’… God who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did.” (Romans 4:17)

There are times when promises look out of reach, yet the call is to believe Jesus for breakthrough. Of course, our faith must line up with Scripture. Faith isn’t wishing for anything we want; it’s agreeing with what the Word says.

“He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.” (Romans 4:20)

Abraham and Sarah waited a long time for the promise, but his faith didn’t waver. That’s a lesson for us all.

Without faith it is impossible… (Hebrews 11:6)

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

The Bible also says, “Seek first the kingdom of God.” That means prioritising time in the Word and in prayer. Personally, I prefer mornings—I find it so helpful to start the day with Jesus and Scripture.

“Have an expectant faith”

I remember the late Gypsy William Lee often saying, “Have an expectant faith.” He saw wonderful things happen. Many of us know believers like that—steady, strong faith that perseveres. Breakthrough comes through faith.

How to live “full of faith” today

  • Anchor your requests in Scripture: Stand on promises that align with God’s Word (the promises of God are “yes and amen”).
  • Seek God daily: Prioritise prayer and Bible reading—build faith before the day builds pressure.
  • Guard your words: Shift from “I hope…” to “I believe God’s Word says…”
  • Invite accountability: Let trusted friends encourage and, when needed, lovingly correct you.
  • Persevere: Like Abraham, don’t waver—give glory to God while you wait.

A question for you

So—are you going to be full of faith? Will you stand on Romans 4 and Hebrews 11 and trust God for your breakthrough? Be encouraged today.
