The title of my blog post and video is “Brexit betrayal”. In 2016, 51.9% of the British public voted to leave the European Union. It was a defining moment in modern British history. Yet today, many are questioning whether that democratic decision is being quietly undone. Under the leadership of Keir Starmer, there’s a growing feeling that the Brexit betrayal is now complete.
From relaxing immigration rules to conceding to EU demands on trade and fishing, the vision of a sovereign, independent UK is under threat. In this post, we’ll explore recent developments, share insights from political commentators, and consider a biblical perspective in these uncertain times.
Keir Starmer’s Brexit Reversal?
A tweet from Darren Grimes captures the mood among many Brexiteers:
“Keir’s Brexit betrayal is complete. No cap on EU visas and 80 million eligible today—150 million if candidate states join. Twelve more years of selling out our fishing waters. He’s flinging the border wide open and handing our sovereignty back to Brussels.”
This isn’t what Britain voted for. Many feel misled—and that our politicians are ignoring the will of the people.
A widely shared image of Starmer bowing to the EU only fuels this perception. It has become a symbol of submission, rather than negotiation.

Surrender Framed as Progress
David Vance offered this blunt assessment:
“Each deal is a ‘surrender’. That’s all Labour does.”
Yet, on social media, the UK Prime Minister boasts:
“Within two weeks, we’ve secured trade deals with India, the US, and now the EU.”
Critics argue these aren’t real deals at all. They’re politically convenient headlines designed to appease, not protect British interests. As Vance and others point out, these agreements often come with steep compromises—particularly on immigration, energy, and sovereignty.
Voices of Dissent – Even Within Labour
Lee Anderson tweeted:
“Brexit betrayal. Starmer went to the single market and came back with five magic beans. Even his own MPs are turning on him.”
The sentiment is echoed in media headlines such as:
“EU fishing demands pose late threat to deal. PM is hellbent on selling out our Brexit freedoms.”
Richard Tice of Reform UK added:
“Starmer’s Great Surrender. We will reverse this appalling deal. It even gives us higher energy bills by adding us to the EU emissions trading scheme.”
It’s not just about economics—it’s about identity, national freedom, and democracy.
A Christian Response in Troubled Times
As a Christian, I find all of this deeply frustrating. But I also believe these events are not random. The Bible speaks of a time when people will lose all sense of discernment—and that time feels closer than ever.
The good news is this: our hope isn’t in politicians—it’s in God.
Jeremiah 17:7–8
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord… He will be like a tree planted by the water, whose leaves are always green. He has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
Proverbs 3:5–6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”
Matthew 6:25–27
“Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink… Look at the birds of the air. They do not sow or reap, yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
Hebrews 13:8
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
These verses remind us that while politics shift and society changes, God remains constant.
Are You Feeling Anxious About the Future?
If you’re reading this and you’re not a Christian, I invite you to consider the peace and hope found in Jesus Christ. Do you feel led, please pray the following prayer with sincerity:
“Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge You as Lord and Saviour of my life. I repent of all my sins and ask You today to take full control of every part of my life. Amen.”
If you meant that prayer, the Bible says you are born again. You now have the gift of eternal life and a new beginning through faith in Christ.
Final Thoughts
The state of our nation is concerning. Our freedoms are slowly eroding, and the ideals of Brexit are being cast aside. But amid this darkness, the light of God still shines brightly.
Let’s continue to stand for truth, pray for our leaders, and encourage others to trust in the One who holds the future. Don’t forget to take a look at my YouTube channel here.
