Does a Multifaith Society Really Work?

A Multi Faith Society
A Multi Faith Society

Today, I want to ask a challenging question: Does a multifaith society really work?

I recently came across a tweet from Calvin Robinson that said:

“I have no interest in building a multifaith, multicultural society. I support a Christian nation.”

Amen to that. A society needs a predominant culture and shared values, and for western society, that is Christianity. The UK was built on Christian principles, and it works. That is not to say people of other faiths or cultures should be persecuted or oppressed – absolutely not – but nor do they need special treatment, and they most certainly should not be promoted above our own.

We have been gaslit into this ridiculousness where everything foreign and exotic is to be celebrated, and anything western Christian is to be denigrated. No more of that. Our country has had good values over the years – not saying we got everything right, but Christian values are worth so much.

Immigration and Patriotism

Someone commented under Calvin Robinson’s post saying:

“I’m patriotic. I love my country. I care about my country. I want more deportations. I want immigration to be controlled.”

Controlled immigration is right – people who want to come to this country because they love it and want to support it is totally different. But the commenter continued,

“But I’m not fighting for the UK to be a Christian country. Many Christians in the UK are not even patriotic.”

And Calvin responded, “That is the problem.”

Not All Faith Cultures Are Equal

Someone else said, “Demon worship should be legal in every Christian state.” Calvin responded wisely, saying not all faith cultures are equal. Most may contain some degree of truth, but only one is absolute truth: Christianity. And amen to that. Jesus is the truth that sets us free. I know that personally. I’ve been on the other side, but I know that wonderful truth, and it is life-changing.

Remembering 7/7

David Vance commented on the anniversary of the 7/7 attacks, saying:

“No – taken by Muslim terrorists. Why can’t you lot say that?”

That is so true. What happened in London twenty years ago was a terrible thing. I remember it well, and it was so sad to see that happen in such a beautiful city.

The Royal Perspective

The Telegraph reported that the Prince of Wales paid tribute to the 7/7 victims. Scrolling further down, it says the King wants the anniversary to be used to reaffirm commitment to building a society where people of all faiths and backgrounds can live together. I’m sorry, but can you not see it’s not working? Where is there a Muslim place with peace and harmony? Maybe the King should try living amongst those people – then perhaps he would be more honest about what is really happening.

Standing for Christian Truth

Another article suggested Britain needs a “national compact” with its Muslim citizens to fight extremism by tackling the root causes of social alienation. I do not agree with that. We need to stand for what our country is – a Christian country – and we need to stand for truth. We need to do what works and stand for Christian truth. It has worked for so many years, and the Bible brings the truth that sets us free. Unless we go by these rules, we will have many problems.

Key Scriptures: Jesus is the Truth

Let’s look at some scriptures relating to the truth of God’s Word:

  • John 14:6 – Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Meaning: Jesus is not just a teacher of truth but truth itself.
  • John 1:14 – The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.
Meaning: Jesus embodies grace and truth perfectly, revealing God’s character and redemption.
  • John 8:31-32 – “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Meaning: Truth brings freedom from sin and deception.
  • 1 Timothy 2:5 – There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
Meaning: Jesus is the only mediator between us and God.
  • Acts 4:12 – Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
Meaning: Salvation is exclusive to Jesus Christ.
  • Colossians 1:15-17 – He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created, and in him all things hold together.
Meaning: Jesus is supreme over all creation, showing his divinity and sovereignty.
  • John 18:37 – “For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world – to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”
Meaning: Jesus came to testify to the truth, and those who are of the truth listen to him.

Invitation to Know Jesus

If you are reading this and you are not a Christian, I invite you to pray a simple prayer to receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour:

Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge you as Lord and Saviour of my life. I repent of all my sins. I ask you today to take over complete control of every aspect of my life. Amen.

If you said that prayer and meant it, the Holy Spirit can come and abide within you, giving you the wonderful gift of everlasting life.

Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. Do you think a multifaith society works, or do you believe we need to return to the Christian foundations that built our country?
