Open Borders Britain – Has the UK Lost Control?

Open Borders Britain

The title of my blog post and video today is “Open Borders Britain – Has the UK Lost Control?” Over the weekend, headlines and social media were ablaze with discussions about the UK’s rapidly deteriorating border situation. A front-page story in the Sunday Telegraph reported that the Prime Minister has “lost control of Britain’s borders” after more than 1,200 migrants crossed the Channel in a single day. But many are asking — is this a case of government failure, or something more deliberate?

In this blog post, which accompanies my YouTube video on the same subject, I reflect on the political implications of the current crisis and offer a Christian perspective on what’s really going on.

David Vance and the Sunday Telegraph: A Stark Warning

David Vance, known for his bold commentary, tweeted about the headline and added: “He hasn’t lost control — he just doesn’t want it.” This struck a chord with me. The crisis at the border no longer feels like mismanagement. It feels intentional.

The boats keep coming, deportations are blocked, lawyers profit, and yet government action is minimal. Some even suggest these failures are being encouraged or orchestrated by higher global forces — elitists and international players who influence national policies behind the scenes.

Channel Crossings Reach New Record

According to the article, over 1,200 migrants arrived in a single day, overwhelming Border Force teams. The Coast Guard had to call on fishing boats to help rescue people. Reports say 18 dinghies were used, each carrying 50 or more people, though the numbers don’t quite add up — suggesting even more boats or people per vessel.

This is clearly unsustainable. As a nation, we must ask: what’s the long-term plan? Who is actually being let into the country? Is our leadership acting in the best interests of its citizens?

A Christian Response to the Crisis

As Christians, we are called to love and show compassion — but also to use discernment and wisdom. We can’t ignore the reality that mass uncontrolled migration has consequences. We are stewards of our communities and need to ask, “Who are we letting in?” and “At what cost?”

The Bible provides powerful insight into the way leaders — and believers — should act in times of uncertainty:

  • 2 Corinthians 8:21: “Provide honourable things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.”
  • 2 Timothy 2:15: “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God… rightly dividing the word of truth.”
  • Colossians 3:9–10: “Do not lie to one another… put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge.”
  • Luke 6:31: “Just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.”

Unfortunately, our leaders are not reflecting these principles. Instead, many of them lie, deflect responsibility, and betray the trust of those they were elected to serve. This is why our hope cannot be placed in politicians.

There Is Still Hope

No matter how bad the headlines get, there is always hope — and that hope is found in Jesus Christ. I’ve been a Christian for over 27 years. I once was blind, but now I see. Jesus died for our sins and offers the gift of eternal life to all who believe in Him, repent, and turn from their old ways.

If you’re not yet a Christian and would like to be, you might consider praying this simple prayer:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge You as Lord and Saviour of my life. I repent of all my sins and ask You today to take complete control of every aspect of my life. Amen.”

If you genuinely meant that, the Bible says you are born again. You’ve received the gift of eternal life and can live with the assurance that God is for you — not against you.

Final Thoughts

The situation at Britain’s borders is serious. But there’s a deeper crisis: a spiritual one. When nations abandon truth and integrity, only the Word of God can show us the way forward.
