The title on my thumbnail is, “Glastonbury: A sign of the times? So do you think Glastonbury becoming a sign of the times we live in?
Recently at Glastonbury Festival, rapper Bob Vylan made shocking calls for violence, including chanting “death to the IDF,” which was broadcast live by the BBC. Many are questioning how such hate speech is allowed on public platforms, while others face prison for far less.
I have been reading through news reports, including The Telegraph, and public reactions on social media. People are asking why Bob Vylan wasn’t arrested for inciting violence. Some believe there is a clear two-tier justice system in the UK.
But beyond the headlines, what does the Bible say about Israel? As Christians, we are called to support and pray for Israel. God’s Word reminds us:

Genesis 12:1–3
“Now the Lord had said to Abram: ‘Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’”
Context: God promised to bless those who bless Israel.
Genesis 17:7–8
“And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”
Context: His covenant with Israel is everlasting.
Psalm 122:6
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love you.’”
Context: Christians are called to pray for Jerusalem’s peace and are promised prosperity in return.
Romans 11:1–2
“I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew.”
Context: Paul confirms God has not rejected Israel despite their current unbelief.
Zechariah 12:3
“And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.”
Context: Prophecy that nations opposing Jerusalem will be judged.
These scriptures show God’s unchanging promises to His people and the importance of standing with Israel, even when the world turns against it.
Perhaps you are reading this and wondering what Christianity is all about. The good news is that Jesus died to set us free from sin and give us eternal life. If you want to know Him as your Saviour, you can pray:
“Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge You as Lord and Saviour of my life. I repent of all my sins and ask You today to take complete control of every aspect of my life. Amen.”
If you prayed that and meant it, the Bible says you are born again and have the gift of eternal life.
