What Are Your Eyes Fixed On?

The title of my blog post and video today is, What are your eyes fixed on? It’s easy to fix our eyes on the wrong things. Problems shout for our attention, yet the Bible calls us to lift our gaze to the Lord—the problem solver. Today’s devotional is about bringing every thought under Christ’s rule and choosing to look to Him in every situation.

Take Every Thought Captive

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV)
“casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

Where our eyes go, our thoughts follow. And where our thoughts go, our lives follow. Instead of staring at the mountain, we bring our thinking under Christ’s authority and fix our eyes on Him.

From Problems to the Problem Solver

Many of us have lived whole days focused on the problem in front of us. But God invites us to look to Him. I recently heard of a Christian couple who had virtually no money. As the husband prayed and listened to the Holy Spirit, he sensed God leading him to start a business—something that looked impossible. Step by step, he obeyed. In time, that business grew into a multi-million-pound company employing around 250 people. He didn’t fixate on the lack; he fixed his eyes on the Lord who provides.

When Circumstances Look Impossible

Perhaps you’re facing debt, a difficult season at work, or challenges like farmers do after a very dry summer—reduced yields and reduced income. It’s natural to focus on what’s wrong. Yet God can change situations that seem unchangeable. The key is where we look: not to the problem, but to Jesus, who came to bring life abundantly and set captives free.

Ask in His Name

John 14:12–14 (NKJV)
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”

Jesus’ promise is powerful. We ask in His name, in line with Scripture, and we obey His Word. Faith looks up and prays with expectation.

Lift Up Your Eyes

Psalm 121:1–2 (NKJV)
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.”

Problems come and go, but the Lord never changes. When one issue is solved, another will appear; so let’s keep our focus on the One who overcomes them all.

Practically Fix Your Focus on Jesus

  • Pray first: bring the issue to God before you analyze it all day.
  • Capture your thoughts: when worry surfaces, submit it to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
  • Meditate on the Word: fill your mind with Scripture that builds faith (Philippians 4:8).
  • Speak God’s promises aloud: align your words with His Word.
  • Choose obedience: act on what the Holy Spirit shows you, step by step.
  • Ask in Jesus’ name: pray boldly yet biblically (John 14:12–14).

Final Encouragement

Whatever you are facing today, lift your eyes to the Lord. He is faithful to answer, to give peace, and to turn situations around. If you have questions or prayer requests, feel free to leave a comment below.
