Does Jesus Heal Today?

Does Jesus Heal Today?
Does Jesus Heal Today?

The title on my thumbnail picture today reads, “Does Jesus heal today?” and my simple answer is yes, he does. I know not everyone may agree, but I believe that Jesus does heal today. Now, if we look in the Bible at Mark 5, Mark 5:36, it says, “As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he said to the ruler of the synagogue, ‘Do not be afraid, only believe.'” It may sound very simple, but I think it’s much simpler to believe what the Bible says than to have doubts about this or that. When I was a new believer, I decided to believe what the word said. And please don’t get me wrong, we don’t just say, “Oh, yes, I believe that.” We need to cross-reference things. I’m always cross-referencing things in the news, you know, checking if it’s right, if it’s true, if it has really happened. And then you see that the story has a different slant, and it’s good to check out things in the Bible. But I really do believe the Holy Bible is God’s anointed word, and it’s good to dig into it and go deeper.

Now, one of the reasons I believe in healing is because it’s in the Bible, and secondly, because I’ve seen people healed—many people. I’ve prayed for people, and they’ve been healed and set free. And that’s nothing to do with me. I’m just a vessel who believes in God and is used by God to set the captives free. And I believe anyone can have the gift of healing if you believe. It’s so easy to doubt, but if we believe and expect to see the miraculous, let’s go and look at this scripture here in 2 Peter 1:1-4. He says, “To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ, grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

So here, he’s talking about faithfulness and the knowledge of God. When we believe in God, we will see healing and what His word says. And then we look at 3 John 1. So, starting at verse 2, it says, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” So Jesus wants us to be in good health. He’s not the author of illness. He wants us to be well, to do well. And I really believe that. It says, “All things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” So He also wants us to be happy and prosper in all things. For I rejoice greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear my children walk in truth. And I think it’s fantastic to be around believers who are not doubters, who believe in the miracles of Jesus and believe that He can take you through and set you free.

Now, the most important thing about healing, even if we don’t believe in healing, is that we do believe that Jesus died for our sins. That’s the biggest healing we can receive. But also, believe that He wants to give us physical healing. So let’s have a look at Mark 1. We’ve got healing in Mark’s Gospel. There’s all sorts of healings. But here we see Jesus casting out an unclean spirit in Mark 1. And then I won’t read everything, but Jesus forgives and heals a paralytic in Mark 2. There’s more healing there. And then, if we go to Mark 3, the Twelve Apostles, he appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have power to heal sickness and to cast out demons. So there it is more healing.

And let’s go on to John 14. There’s quite a bit there, from verse 12 to 31. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” So that once again talks about believing in Him. And then it says Jesus promises another helper. “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” And there’s a lot more down here which I’m not going to read at all.

But it’s powerful what we believe in Jesus and when we take our God-given authority. I find it amazing what He can do. It’s easy to turn on the news and get negative or be around people who don’t believe. But when we stay in faith, I believe in Jesus, we know that just one touch from the King can change everything. And it’s not Jesus’ will for us to be sick. He wants us well. And as we’re looking finally in James 4:7, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” It’s good to participate in Godly things, and when we do that, the devil flees from us when we’re strong and speak words of truth. The devil doesn’t want to know. But when we’re weak and say things like, “I don’t know if Jesus is going to heal me. I’m not sure,” it’s no different for Jesus to heal cancer or a headache. He can heal. And we need to get into practice. If we’ve got pain or something, just say, “Lord, take this pain away and remove it from me,” and just keep believing and believe that we are healed. And it works for me, so I’m sure it can work for you.

If you have any questions on this video, I’m here to help and I appreciate you watching. But once again, the most important healing you can receive is to have Jesus as your Savior and the gift of eternal life. Thanks very much for watching.

Just one touch from the King changes everything!
