Today I have put on the title of my devotional, “rebuke that illness”! The reason I have given my message this title is that the other day I was working, and I could feel a sore throat coming upon me. I think we have all had that situation when we feel that sore throat coming on and the start of a potential cold. Yesterday, in we talked about truth, you can see yesterday’s blog post here.
Jesus Is Our Healer
However, what I’ve tried to do over the last few years is to rebuke the cold in the name of Jesus! And, it seems to work, I guess that’s because the Bible says so! At the moment, I can feel the cold a bit in my throat, but it’s more my voice sounds a bit different. From my experience, I know that prayer works, I haven’t had any major cold for several years now.
Rather than letting the germ takeover, I have rebuked it and nipped it in the bud before it has a chance to take hold. God has given the believer authority to rebuke illness in his name! Maybe if you’re not a Christian, that may sound a bit airy fairy; however, the Bible does say that Jesus is our healer! We can call on his name and he will answer, all we have to do is to believe in him!
Prayer Works
Over the years, I’ve been privileged to pray for many people, I have seen people healed and some of them have been healed instantly. There is nothing to do with me, Jesus is our healer, I can be used as a vessel, but Jesus is the healer! I know that there is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain.
Let’s have a look at some scriptures and see what the Bible has to say about healing. Maybe you are suffering with something, and you need to call on the name of Jesus and break every chain and rebuke that illness!
If we start with Exodus 15:26, it reads.
26 and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”
Powerful words from the book of Exodus, it sounds good to me that God is our healer. But it also says if you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do right what is seen in his sight. I believe that it is important that we are obedient to his word. I appreciate that we all mess up from time to time. That doesn’t mean we lose our healing, but with do need to do what is right and be led by the spirit of God.
Only Believe
The Bible says that the spirit of God will lead us into all truth, and it really does. I think most Christians know if they have done something wrong and they have messed up. It also says I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord that heals you.
Very powerful words and biblical truths there!
Let’s have a look at the next Scripture, which is Psalm 103:1 – 3, which reads.
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Here’s more proof that Jesus heals all our diseases and he forgives us.
