Today I thought I would talk about what are your thoughts? Thoughts are amazing; I’ve been told that the mind is more powerful than the most powerful computer! It’s amazing how many things can go through the mind in almost a split second.
Thoughts
Thoughts Yesterday we looked at rebuking that illness, today we’re looking at thoughts. The great thing is that for the Christian, we need to focus on good things. If we are not careful, it can be very easy to focus on the negative. Perhaps when things are not going quite to plan, it’s very easy to try and focus on the negative. The fact is that these negative things do not line up with God’s word. I appreciate that we all have things are difficult and that we have to go through. Sometimes it is hard to keep those positive thoughts. I’m thankful that we have been given the Holy Spirit, he has given us the ability to break every chain, through the power of his name. We need to take our God-given authority.
Lockdown Files
Just this morning I was looking in the Daily Telegraph, once again it’s talking about the lockdown files. Something that I knew all the time, I certainly didn’t feel that we were being told the truth. We can see one of the articles reads, “project fears psychological warfare must never be repeated, say lockdown rebels”!
The fact is that I know a lot of people were really scared about what was going on at the time and frightened, sadly this includes Christians. I’m thankful that Jesus has not given us a spirit of fear. This is when we need to be reminded of Scripture, there is no reason for the Christian to be living in fear. We need to have good thoughts that line up with Scripture!
Scripture Readings
Let’s take a look at what the world of God says about this.
Let’s have a look in Isaiah 55:8 – 9, which reads.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”
So a powerful Scripture from the book of Isaiah. My thoughts are not your thoughts, God thinks way more above what we can think. I know that the Lord’s ways are better than my ways! And then it goes on to say that my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts! So, we have someone higher that we can come to and call on name of Jesus and he will answer!
Jeremiah 29
Then we come to the famous Scripture in Jeremiah 29:11 – 13, which reads.
“11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Another great verse or verses from Scripture, God knows the thoughts that he thinks towards us. They are thoughts of peace and not evil and they are to give us a future and hope, which is fantastic! And it goes on to say that we can call upon his name and we can pray to him, and he will listen to us, and he will find us. However, we need to find him and search for him, with all our heart. In other words, we need to seek first the kingdom of God! I’m very thankful that the Christian has so much that we can call upon in times of need.
Let’s move on to the Philippians 4:8 – 9, which reads.
“8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
We need to be looking at things that are good and praiseworthy, things are lovely. Even though we may have a problem, they think about the good things and call on the name of Jesus! So, if we do the things that we have been told to do, the peace of God will be with us. What a difference that is having bad thoughts to having good and positive thoughts!
More Scriptures
We are also going to look at the Scriptures from Romans 12:2 and 2 Timothy 1:7.
